Highlights: ‘Paradip continues as country’s top port'

• The Port Day 2020 was a low-key affair at PPT, due to Covid-19 pandemic, but the celebrations were as per the age-old traditions. On the occasion, Chairman, Paradip Port Trust Rinkesh Roy attended the function as chief guest in a simple, but traditional affair, with no large gatherings. He unfurled the Paradip Port Flag at Wet Basin in the morning.  He also inspected the Port Marine crafts lined up in the harbour and took salute.
• In a first in Odisha, the Paradip Port Trust (PPT) brought in pre-paid smart energy meters which went live from Monday. As part of the Green Port initiatives, PPT Chairman Rinkesh Roy inaugurated the smart meter project with the first recharge of a three-phase smart meter installed at the BPCL outlet in the port city in the presence of PPT Deputy Chairman AK Bose, Chief Mechanical Engineer Saroj K Das and former Trustee Antaryami Pattnaik.
• Odisha government would soon sign a MoU with the Paradip Port Trust (PPT) for development of a riverine port on river Mahanadi at Akhadasali village under Mahakalapada block in Kendrapada district.
